Who is a survivor?
This is any eligible family member of a deceased insured person, Age pensioner or invalidity pensioner. The survivors’ benefit provides for those who have suffered such loss.
Who can benefit?
Beneficiaries may be children, spouse or dependent parents (over 60) who received at least 50% support from the deceased. This benefit is paid weekly. The amount is based on the contribution history of the deceased, but a minimum of one hundred and fifty contributions is required for the category of persons identified.
How can you claim?
Starting the claim process may involve submitting a birth certificate, a marriage certificate, notarised documents establishing relationship or dependency, and most importantly, the death certificate of the deceased.
